  Safety Features

Gasmaster boilers incorporate a number of safety features. In addition to the commonly used high temperature cut-off switch, the following sensors are installed as standard features:

  1. Flow Switch: Flow Switch would automatically shut off the fuel supply if the flow through the boiler falls below a pre-determined rate.

  2. Start-Up: The main control system allows only 4 or 15 seconds (depending on the model) of "ignition trial" combustion. If within this period ignition is not achieved, the system is automatically shut-off.

  3. Low Fire Start: to maximize operational safety, the boiler is equipped with a low fire start line. The boiler always starts at 10,000 - 12,000 Btu/hr (=2.9 - 3.5 kW), and operates for five seconds before the main gas valve is opened.

  4. Flame Proving Sensor: a flame proving sensor is installed inside the combustion chamber. If at any time during the operation flame is cut-off, the system will be immediately shut-off.

  5. Air Proving Switch: this sensor serves two purposes. First, if the required combustion air is not supplied, the system is shut off. Second, if the duct (exhaust path) is for any reason clogged, and back pressure is generated inside the housing, the system will be shut-off.

  6. Low Water Cut-Off: this sensor is placed at the highest point on the installation within the boiler room. The sensor acts as a back-up for the flow switch and requires manual setting. If there is a leak anywhere in the installation (outside boiler), and the water level drops below the position of the sensor, the system is immediately shut off. The boiler will not re-start unless this switch is manually re-set.
